Karnaprayag

Panch Prayag – the confluence of holy rivers from Alaknanda to Pinder to Bhagirathi, is a set of five most importance confluences – called by different names. Karnprayag is one of them – one of the main Panch Prayag in Uttarakhand.

Karnprayag is one of the main Panch Prayag in Uttarakhand – the spiritual and sacred place where Alaknanda joins River Pindar that is originated from Pindar Glacier from the Nanda Devi Mountain.

The beautiful place – surrounded by mountain ranges is known for its religious significance. It is said that Karna (the Kunti Putra and shoorveer in Epic Mahabharata) practice Penance here. It is also called the place, where his father or the Sun God blessed him with indestructible gear or Kavacha (armor) and Kundala (Earrings).

A good number of devotees and adventure tour enthusiasts, who are on their Char Dham Yatra or Panch Prayag Yatra spend time here to witness the confluence two migty rivers.

There are various things to do in Karnprayag

You can spend time by visiting Uma Temple – the temple dedicated to Daughter of King Himalaya – practiced strict austerities to get Lord Shiva.
You have more adventure options to enjoy holidays like pass through different small temples that are lining the Ghats from the Uma Temple.
Karna Temple is also worthy to visit here. Other shrines include temples of Lord Ram, Sita Lakshman and Shiva that are located next to the shrines of Karna.

How to Reach Karnprayag

The beautiful place is easy accessible from different parts of Uttarakhand. However, for tourists from outside the state, Rishikesh is the first boarding point from where Karnprayag is at the distance of 170 km via Rudraprayag and Srinagar.
You can reach here via NH58 – connecting Delhi wit Badrinath and Mana Pass. You can take taxi or bus from Rishikesh to reach Karnprayag.
