Yamunotri Dham
In the Garwal region of Himalayan ranges, Yamunotri dham is located which is a significant place among Chardham Yatra. Yamunotri dham is located in the district of Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand. The holy river Yamuna gets its origin from Yamunotri glacier and it is a worth-mentioning fact that from this glacier the river Yamuna steps down to the SaptarishiKund. Chardham Yatra compasses through the appealing range of Himalaya entailing Yamunotridham and other significant places near Yamunotridham. The captivating scenes of Kalind Parbat and Banderpoonch Mountain add four feathers into the beauty of Yamunotridham. Banderpoonch Mountains is considered as a dominant mountain of Himalaya region especially in central Himalaya.We can see here that Banderpoonch Mountain plays very substantial role in the division of the water of river Yamuna.
Apart from having a great significance of Yamunotri dham due to the origin of Yamuna River, this dham is widely known for being its hermitage of saint “Asit Muni”. He used to take holy dip into the river Yamuna. As in Gangotri dham, the temple Gangotri is made up of white marble, here in Yamunotri dham, the Yamunotri is made up of beautiful and dark black marbel.
There is one quite substantial point that near Yamunotri dham that a hot water spring is located here named- Surya Kund where people boil rice and potatoes and distribute among themselves as the Prasad of Maa Yamuna. This kund has a great spiritual importance. Some distance far a rock is situated there which is called – DivyaShilla. This rock has got lots of importance in many puranas especially in SkandPurana it has been mentioned that doing meditation at this rock provides an opportunity to the people to get spiritual freedom. This mythological tale has proved true to people.
